Brooklyn Boy

A friend of mine saw a listing the other day for the Transit Museum’s apparently annual (though it seems to me they trot the omnis out more frequently) bus festival. It trumpeted the displaying of a late ’40s model that would have been the one Ralph Kramden drove during the prime years of The Honeymooners.

And sure enough, it IS the New York City Transit Authority bus that ’50s PR photos show Ralph presiding over, though the paint job and markings are not as in the photos. (Nor are they as I remember them from when I was a kid — the model was still in use in the ’70s.) I know this because I accidentally stumbled across the micro-festival while barreling through the Atlantic Antic macro festival which, it turned out, encompassed it.
